In June 2020, after almost 60 years as a program service of another Florida non-profit, The American Police Hall of Fame & Museum became its own Florida non-profit corporation and a pending IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt entity.

The facility is operated by a board of directors that includes non-profit, education, marketing, and IT professionals. Training and related topics will be guided by the Board, an FDLE-certified staff, and advisory board made up of law enforcement professionals.
